This instrument is known from ancient times. In the past the zurna was played during daily and musical routine. The zurna is also played during weddings and national festivities. The length of the instrument ranges from 25cm to 40cm. There are many types of the zurna. Formerly, besides nine finger holes, the zurna could also have six and seven holes. The allocation of the finger holes on the pipe provides every instrument with a unique sound.
