In the family of our national instruments the “shvi” occupies a proud place. Its sounds are the closest to our hearts. The instrument is made of apricot wood and has large technical possibilities: from songs and music tunes to concert works. The “shvi” is used not only in Armenian, but also in Moldavian, Romanian, Hungarian, German, and English folk and classical songs. Today a few kinds of the “shvi” are known.
