Duduk

The duduk is not simply an instrument that brings just joy or sadness. It rather encompasses the soul and feelings, and is a united symphony of human moods. By breaking through all the language barriers, today duduk is known all over the world. It speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French, Czech, Persian, Russian and certainly Armenian. This is a passionate and soulful musical instrument, and although this may seem similar to the identify of many, it holds additional significance in its cultural history. The instrument is made of apricot wood. Perhaps, this is the reason for its sounds having the sweetness of apricot.
The instrument is composed of a pipe and a cane reed, which joins the upper part of the instrument. There are nine holes on the front and two holes on the opposite side of the pipe. A mobile loop for regulating the tune is located in the middle part of the reed. Besides the mentioned keys, the semitones are received through partially blocking/releasing the holes.
